How To Wrap A Text Around A Shape in After Effect – Tutorial

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to wrap a text around a shape in After Effect

  • Step 1: Open A New Document.
  • Step 2: Draw A Shape on your canvas, in this instance it’s an oval shape. No Fill, Add Stroke.
  • Step 3: Type some texts on your canvas.
  • Step 4: Add a mask to your text layer – Right Click on the layer –  Mask – new mask.
  • Step 5: Paste the copied path on Text Mask – Go to Text Layer – mask – mask 1 – mask path – paste
  • Step 6: Mask The Text – For the text to be visibly wrapped around the shape – Go to – Text layer – text – path options – path – switch from none to mask 1.
  • Step 7: To reverse path – go to text – path options – reverse path on.
  • Step 8: Repeat Text – to fill the space, REPEAT text to cover the shape. Adjust font and size till satisfied.
  • Step 9: Animate Text – Go to Tetx layer – path options – first margin – add keyframes on the timeline to experiment. ie. add keyframe 00sec – add a keyframe at 02sec. first margin – 0, last margin 300.
  • Step 10: Turn the shape layer on and scale it appropriately.
